Easter in Thredo, a ski resort tucked away in Mount Kosciuszko

Easter is always a great time to catch up with family and friends, go on an Easter egg hunt and smell the aroma of freshly baked hot cross buns from the oven.

This year we decided to try something different and head south with friends to our snow region, The Snowy Mountains. Having never been there before it was challenging not knowing what to expect since ski season hasn’t even started yet. Doing my google research I booked our accommodation at The Alpenhorn Lodge in Thredo Village. Upon arrival our first impression was WOW! We arrived at night andthe village was lit up like a Swiss Alps resort.

The activities are well catered for everyone, young, old, mountain bike enthusiasts and bushwalking. We took the chair lift to the top of the mountain and walked to the Mount Kosciuszko Lookout.

Thredo Village boasts a smorgasbord of cafes, restaurants and bars from formal dining to tapas to a humble pie at the village bakery.

In and around The Snowy Mountains there’s activities such as Segway, horse riding, trout fishing, wine tasting and snapps tasting at the distillery.

Whether you are planning a visit to Thredbo in the summer or in the winter and seeking for accommodation, look no further than The Alpenhorn Lodge. With spectacular views to the Kosciuszko Mountains, the lodge sits comfortabley offering a cosy lounge with a fireplace, piano, comfortable double rooms and a few minutes walk to the cafes and chairlift. The manager on duty, Nigel is the perfect host. Not only did he make us feel welcome, his hospitality stretched far beyond our expectation. He was kind, engaging and friendly making Alpenhorn Lodge just the perfect home away from home.
